PLEASE GIVE THEM REASON TO LOOK FORWARD AND CAUSE TO HOPE

THE CYPRUS CHILDREN'S FUND

In times of financial and emotional adversity, communities come together to help and provide relief against misfortune, pain and despair. The concept of charitable action and philanthropy signifies the generosity of spirit practiced worldwide. Philanthropy, as an act of compassion, has been part of the American way of life and it is the great shared task of improving our collective lives.
Your help is needed to help restore the dignity and hope in troubled families and their children in Cyprus. For many families the disintegration following the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus still continues. Many families are still caught in the grip of poverty, despair and helplessness. Through caring support and generosity donors provide security to the orphans, help the ill, the abandoned and the underprivileged. Moral and financial help strengthens these children and helps them break out of their despair. To put it simply: People helping people. Please join our organization today and become a foster parent. Together we can work to make a difference in a child's life.

WHO ARE WE

The Cyprus Children's Fund, Inc., is a non-profit organization established in 1975 following the devastating Turkish invasion and occupation of Cyprus to alleviate the plight of hundreds of displaced children in Cyprus. This program is a one-on-one basis sponsorship program and every donated dollar goes to a child of the donor's choice.

 WHO ARE THESE CHILDREN

Children are recommended to this office through the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, Social Welfare Department of Cyprus. Determination of cases is based on strict criteria of need. Many children need emotional support through foster parent contact, as well as the sponsorship donation of $20 a month.

WHY THEY NEED HELP

Forty percent of the children currently receiving help represent cases of abandonment, alcoholism, and dysfunction. Some children come from divorced families, or families plagued by emotional illnesses. Several children live in group homes rather than with their parents. The cost of the sponsorship is only 66 cents a day. For the price of a cup of coffee you can make an important difference in a youngster's life. Please share your concern with one of the many children in need of help and caring. And then you won't be a stranger for long.
