Who are these children?

The children currently receiving help with our sponsorship program, are refugees , enclaved children or represent cases of abandonment, alcoholism, and dysfunction. Some children come from divorced families, homes plagued by emotional illnesses or families that are having many financial difficulties. Several live in group homes rather with their parents.

The children are recommended to this office through the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance, Social Welfare Department of Cyprus. Determination of cases is based on strict criteria of need.
Through caring support and generosity, donors have been providing security to all these children that need it the most. Moral and financial help, strengthens these children and helps them break out of their despair.

Make a difference in the life of a child. By donating to the CCF you are helping us make a commitment to these children and help them believe that we haven't forgotten about them!

GEORGIA
Georgia was born on May 8, 2006 in Nicosia.  She is one of three siblings; the other two are from her mother’s first marriage.  She is facing serious health issues and monthly treatments are required for her condition.  Unfortunately the Cyprus doctors cannot treat her so she has to fly to Great Britain every month for the specialist.  The expenses are enormous and the father’s salary as a construction worker can’t cover them.   The mother can’t work since she has to travel with little Georgia to England every month.

IFIGENIA
This little girl was born on May 4, 2001 in Limassol with many health problems.  As a premature newborn, she has breathing as well as heart problems.  She is of low mental capacity and needs speech and movement therapy.  She is one of two children living with their mother, since their parents are divorced.  Due the child’s medical needs the mother is unable to work.

IOANNIS
This boy is Ifigenia’s brother (above case) from a different father.  He was born on April 24, 1998 in Limassol and he suffers from a rare disease called Galactosaemia.  Special medical care is needed as well as a special diet.  He also has cataracts in both eyes and underwent eye surgery at age of three.  He lives with his mother and younger sister at a rented apartment and he has no contact or help by his father.  His mother cares a lot for her children, but is unable to work since she has to take both children to different doctors and specialists all the time.  Her only income comes from social grants.

RAFAEL
Rafael is a 9 year old boy who lives with his father.  The mother is indifferent towards the child with no contact at all (Parents are divorced).  The father was recently diagnosed with leukemia and undergoes frequent treatments.  Unfortunately the child was also born with health problems.  He is almost blind in both eyes and underwent multiple surgeries in Cyprus and overseas, which created many financial problems.   This is a family that needs not only financial help but emotional as well!
