$29,000 Awarded in Scholarships by the Cyprus Children's Fund

 

New York – Savas C. Tsivicos, National Chairman and President of the Cyprus Children's Fund and Charles Anastasiou, Chairman of the Makarios Scholarship/Theodore & Wally Lappas Awards, and the members of the scholarship Committees declare the following students as the 2009 Scholarship Award recipients for a total sum of $29,000. The major award of the Cyprus Children's Fund is the Makarios Scholarship/Theodore & Wally Lappas Award which was created in 1983 by the great benefactors of the Cypriot children, the late Theodore & Wally Lappas, continued with great fervor by their daughter, Alexandra Lappas until her recent death.

 

 

MAKARIOS SCHOLARSHIP/THEODORE & WALLY LAPPAS AWARDS

Charles Anastasiou , Chairperson of the Makarios Scholarship/Theodore and Wally Lappas Awards announces the following students as the 2009 recipients for a total amount of $12,000.

 

Yiolanda Sofiali pursuing post graduate studies in Marriage and Family Therapy with the Nova Southeastern University of Fort Lauderdale, FL

Angeliki Lambrou, a graduate student of Harvard University School of Public Health, Boston , Ma.

Petros Christofides graduate student at Columbia University , New York , pursuing a Master of Science in Actuarial Science.

Androula Pericleous, undergraduate student at Rutgers University , New Jersey .

The Cyprus Children's Fund /Michael and Despina Anastasiou Awards for a total of $6,000 are awarded to :

Eleonora Antoniou, an undergraduate student with the University of South Florida .

 

Paraskevas Xenophontos – undergraduate studies at Stony Brook State University of New York with major in Biomedical Engineering.

 

Katherine Landry undergraduate studies at St. John's University , Queens , New York majoring in English.

 

CYPRUS CHILDREN'S FUND SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT AWARDS

Savas C. Tsivicos, Chairman of the Cyprus Children's Fund Scholarship Endowment announces that a total amount of $8,000 will be awarded to:

 

Veronica Nicole Georgiades, undergraduate studies at St. John's University , Queens , New York .

John Zinonos, undergraduate studies at Hunter College of the City University of New York , undergraduate studies in English.

 

 

Gregory Melissinos, undergraduate student at Fordham University of New York, NY majoring in Psychology (award presented in memory of Anastasia Hill.)

 

Irene Zeniou a student at Hunter College of the City University of New York , undergraduate studies in English literature

 

The 2010 scholarship applications will be available to students of Greek and Greek Cypriot origin who are citizens of the United States , Greece and Cyprus and can be obtained from the Cyprus Children's Fund. Eligible students must be currently enrolled or will be enrolled in September 2010 on a full-time basis in a U.S. accredited College or University. Deadline for application submission for all awards is April 30, 2010. Applications are available on the Organization's web: Cyprus-childrensfund.org., or by written request at:
